Reagan decided to come a little bit early, 12 hours to be exact.
Thursday night Adam and I were getting ready to go to bed for the last time as a family of 2. Adam decided to take some Benadryl to help him sleep through the night since we were both wide awake in anticipation for the arrival of Reagan at 2pm on Friday. Adam rolls over to go to bed and I do the same except I felt something completely different than I have ever felt before....a gush of something in my underwear. I say to Adam, "uh oh, I think my water just broke." I get out of bed and go to the bathroom to check. My water had broke on its own at 9:30pm Thursday night. I call the on call doctor to tell her what has happened and jump in the shower. I figure its my last shower for a few days so why not. Adam is running all through the house trying to pack his hospital bag. Mine was already done- of course for those of you who know me, I am always prepared.
We arrive at Community North Hospital around 11pm and head to triage. The maternity ward was crazy busy, maybe because it was a full moon or maybe because everyone wanted to have their baby on 11/11/11. We finally get a triage room and they monitor me until the doctor arrives. I am now having contractions but not real bad. Since we had just had dinner at 6pm they needed us to wait 6 hours before we could start the c-section, which was fine with me since I was still praying for that 11/11/11 birthday. Reagan decided she wanted that date to by breaking my water. The earliest they could start the c-section was at 1:30am so Reagan was born at 2:03am. She came out crying and with a full head of hair. Adam got pictures of the c-section which surprisingly is not bad.
We finally got a real room and were able to get 1 hour of sleep from 5am - 6am. We then had to stay in the hospital through Monday and were almost not released thanks to my blood pressure hitting a record high of 172/100. In my defense, I was already upset because the pharmacy had taken 2 hours to fill 1 prescription and they decided to take my BP when my baby was screaming. Finally after waiting another 3 hours, we were given the green light to go.
