As you all have noticed the blogging stopped for a few weeks because we found out on March 1st that we were pregnant. We didn't want to come out and say anything right away because our last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and we are cautiously optimistic with this one. Ok- so maybe it would be better to say we are totally freaked out- or at least I am. I made the doctors office do 4 blood tests to make sure my BETA was rising. So far so good.
I am sure many are wondering how did this happen because I am wondering the same thing. It was a spontaneous pregnancy. Adam of course takes credit since he tracked my cycle and I take some credit because it was my idea to let him and I was taking DHEA which is supposed to help improve egg quality. Or maybe God decided it was our time. Either way we are so excited and scared to death all at the same time!!!!! I had a friend say when she found out she was pregnant through IVF that she was just going to enjoy each day being pregnant because she didn't know if she would ever get to experience that moment again. I keep repeating that in my head to help calm me down. I also know there is nothing I can do to change whatever outcome this pregnancy will have. It is in Gods hands.
We luckily found out right before our appointment with our new RE so we canceled that appointment. We instead have decided to stay with our old RE office since they consider me high risk due to the miscarriage and will monitor me for a couple of weeks and then release me to my OB.
1st Ultrasound......
We had our 1st ultrasound on 3/23/11. Our little one measured right on target with a good heartbeat of 121 bpm (beats per minute). Our estimated due date is Nov. 13th. Our RE said everything is looking really good and couldn't find anything for us to worry about. He said he wanted us to have another ultrasound around 8-9 weeks and I could either stay with them or graduate onto my OB. My OB is fantastic so I immediately called them to get scheduled. Our next ultrasound is March 31st. (Sorry the picture is not that great)
Morning Sickness......
I have been having morning sickness on and off for the past week but on Saturday everything changed. I woke up feeling horrible. I ended up throwing up all morning and stayed in bed until 2pm. Then I woke up on Sunday and ran for the toilet. I worshiped the toilet several times throughout the day...LOL I called my OB first thing on Monday morning and low and behold they can give me a prescription anti nausea medicine. I am so happy!!!! I have tried every natural remedy and nothing has helped. I even travel with a barf bag now.
Update 3/31/11
Just had another ultrasound and everything looks great! Baby measured perfectly at 7w 4d and had a heartbeat of 160 bpm. It's starting to actually look like a baby. Our next ultrasound will be April 8th.

Need Some Advice From Everyone
Adam and I have been watching every penny we spend and even though we cut our spending by 75% last month, yes that's right 75% we still need some help/advice as to what else we can do to help save. We don't have what we need yet for IVF and don't know what else we can do.
We have stopped eating out and started clipping coupons. Our dinners at least 3 times a week consist of hot dogs and chicken nuggests. We are being very frugal on things we have to buy. We even car pooled to Adams parents house last weekend to help out with gas cost (thanks Matt and Tori). We keep our thermostat at 60 degrees when we are not home and 65-67 degrees when we are home. We are using our tax rebate checks to help but are still waiting on them. We do not go shopping for clothes, we are only allowed to buy the necessaties such as toiletries. I would love to sell a few things on craigslist or ebay but we don't have internet at the house and do not want to get it due to the added expense. We would more than likely be put into a year contract which would then be an added expense for at least a year. We talked about selling the house but with the housing market the way it is, we would lose money. The same thing with my car, I don't owe too much more on (we purchased not leased) it so it would be stupid to sell it at this point. Plus if the IVF does work and I get pregnant we need reliable transportation. Our family has also started paying us for babysitting our nieces and nephew which has helped out a lot. Thank you to all who have also donated. You have no idea what that means to us.
So here is where you all come in. We need any suggestions on ways we can save and save big. I would be willing to get a 2nd job but the problem with that is I will need to take a lot of time off around the time we do IVF since you are put on best rest and if I do get pregnant, I would not be able to work that much.
